The file I drag from the ECU with EcuFlash is a .bin file.

What are these .xml and .hex files I see with other peoples ROMs? - is it just me downloading the wrong thing?

.bin or .hex are interchangeable.

.xml is the definition file that tells Ecuflash where all the tables are in the above files.
