Hey Geeks

I'm in the process of trying to sell my SM4, I have decided to self map my VI eventually.

I would like to start logging as soon as possible to get a better feel for what is required.

What cable do I need? What software? What AFR gauge etc?

Cheers

Stewart

For just logging, the best cable around is the Clanzer R-SU-OBD cable, as it's logs much faster than the tactrix or limitless cables.

However at the moment it can't be used for flashing (but that is subject to change).

But it is much cheaper than the limitless and tactrix offerings.

For logging, evoscan is the best software at the moment, however Clanzer is working on Mut Monitor (which is free) and looks promising, and then there is Mitsilogger which is also free.

For AFR your better off getting a propper wideband kit, something like the innovate LC1 with the DB gauge (if you want to see the afr all the time) or just the LC1 if you only want to log AFR.

Is Clanzer selling these? I thought they were just for the beta testers of the MUT-monitor.

Where is the best place to buy above items? Also, do you have any good reading material for the logging and mapping?

Gray pointed me in the direction of a evolutionm thread, any more I should have a look at?

Cheers

The best place to read up is EvolutionM at the moment, however I am sure it won't be long before there are guides on here.

Mitsilogger can be grabbed from the active matrix website.

Evoscan from www.limitless.co.nz (http://www.limitless.co.nz) but it costs $25 (not alot to pay, as it's great sw).

Clanzer will be selling the cables as far as I know, but all the parts are listed, so you could build 1 yourself for about £12 I think, if your good with a soldering iron.

If not, then you can get an Openport 1.3 cable from limitless above, or the Openport 2.0 (no logging support at the moment) from www.tactrix.com (http://www.tactrix.com) or it seems limitless now also sell the openport 2.0 cables.

So I can reflash using the OP2 cable but not log as yet.

But I can do both of the above on 1.3 cable.

Is that correct?

You can't flash a 5/6 or X ecu with a 1.3 cable.

So I need a OP2 to flash VI ecu using ecuflash and a 1.3 to log using evoscan?

Looking to get a cable off the GB on the MLR.

at the moment yes.

However I spoke to Hamish (maker of evoscan) last night, and he is working on getting evoscan to work with the OP2 at the moment.

Well I've sold my SM4 and bought a Tactrix OP2. Be prepared for some major questioning in the coming months! lol

Do I need to short out pins 1 and 4 on the op2 to flash the VI ecu?

No
