Starting to look at the editing side of things now as i try and 'widen my knowledge'
Whats the best software for me to use to get started?
Where can I get the software from?
Not looking at the earlier ecu, just the Evo 5 onwards:smile:
A push in the right direction would be much appreciated :D

Guessing you have read the sticky at the top of this section, aye? Personally I use HEX Workshop and IDA Pro, neither of which are free, nor cheap, unless you look in the right places. ;)
Got them on my PC at home, if you want I can upload them for you and PM the link when I get home from work tonight?
Also have a read of this thread (http://www.geekmapped.com/forums/showthread.php?t=853&highlight=ceddy). :>

Hex workshop would be good to try  I use IDA pro. I would like to find a hex editor which helps find possible tables as It takes alot of time going through hex code to find tables

Will upload it when I get home, it's about 16MB, but IDAPro is 90MB, so will see if megaupload will let me host it, if not, might have to set up an FTP for starkers to just grab off my machine.

I use ECUEdit (a very old version when it was free :D ) and also IDAPro.
I've also got one that looks for tables but I can't remember what it's called. I'll dig it out when I get home and let you know what it is.

If you can get me the name of the prog mate, that would be great. Should be able to source it. ;)

Yes pal, read the thread and also the sticky before putting this post up:thumbup1: I did download the link he gave on there but i can't open it :(
Main reason for this thread was because i know due to this site a lot of people have started looking into disassembly, these are probably the people this is aimed at....hence asking which program is the best, basically for me to understand and search for codes, i know it's not simple to find the codes but just a user friendly software is what i'm after....i'm definately not a rocket scientist:lol:

Did download the trial for ECUedit but it was about £150 for the software! iirc it does do logging etc also but not looking to pay that much if at all if i can help it, but if there is a decent program for a good price thats usable i'll go for that:smile:
Cheers Andy, would appreciate you digging the name of the program out:thumbup1:

Have had a look at that WinOLS and it looks very impressive! Also has support for finding the tables for you.

Which version you using? I am currently grabbing 1.5, the last couple have had non-working keygens & serials, so hopefully 3rd one will work. Can't find any newer ones with any keygens or serials.
EDIT: This one is just the same as the first! Back on the hunt....
EDIT 2: Looks like I was rushing through the crack and a file was missing, hence why it wasn't working, grabbing the missing file now, will update once I try it out.

Here it is!
You will have to temporarily disable your AV, mine didn't like the reg.exe file, but once you have used it, you can delete it (as explained in the readme).

Tested and working with WinOLS 1.5!
Enjoy!

Hmm, worked fine for me. Copied reg.exe, launcher_reg.exe and launcher_ols.exe to the installation directory, then ran launcher_reg.exe, put in they name and key and then exited. Then use launcher_ols.exe to start the program, make a shortcut to the desktop and you can delete the other 2 files. Don't use the installed icon to launch the program, won't work, use the one you made.
Hope that helps.

Try this one.... http://rapidshare.com/files/289362509/winols_1.500.rar
Don't use the crack folder with it, there is a file missing, use the installer from that and the crack I linked to earlier.

Spot on mate, glad it's working. Just a note tho, I have noticed that when installing the program windows makes a restore point and creates a copy of reg.exe (called something else tho) which as said earlier, my AV didn't like.
So you might get a AV warning at some point, if you do, simply go to where your AV says it is and delete it, it's not needed, apart from when actually doing the crack.
You might not get that issue, but I did (running AVG 9).

Have you loaded winOLS 1.500 from the post by HermaN on post #29?
That is what i eventually did, then once it was loaded i went back to the original zip file he posted up, copied over the loader.exe, reg.exe and loader.ols to the winOLS file located in the program files and then went through the motions as in the 'read me' file which is in the original zip.
If you've already tried it that way then i'm stumped a little! if you haven't then give it a go John :)
