Should i de-cat?

Right, my geeky fun has had to be put on hold hopefully until around the end of summer. We're moving house blah blah blah...

Anyway, i've a feeling the cat on my VIII 340 may be on its way out. So i was thinking just buy a decat, but i have read conflicting stuff about decats. Do i need a remap too, or a can i just bolt it on and away we go?

I dont want to get a new cat now, only to bin it in six months time when the modding begins.

You can de-cat the car without re-mapping it however it would be advisable to map is as the car will run slightly different.
You'll have to keep the cat anyway for MOT time so get it removed now before it does go, save you paying an arm and a leg for a new one to put on once a year!
