just wondering if all H8/7202 ecu's are the same or are there different spec, the reason i ask is that in recent times ive stumbled on cars that have the h8 ecu and 7202 procesor even have almost identical board numbers to the of an evo 5/6 but when flashed with an evo 5/6 they wont start the car, would this be a software problem or would it mean that the hardware is slightly different on each ecu board? im baffled by it tbh

There are slight differences in the Input/Outputs based on what car they are made for.
For example in the U.S., Eclipse Spyders(convertibles) use a fuel pump module that takes +5 volts to turn on. But hard top Eclipses use a fuel pump relay that needs to pull 12 volts to ground to turn on.
Try swapping ecus and the car won't start.
The rom images are exactly the same, and except for a resistor or two the ecu hardware are the same.
PCB Number is based on what year the board was made, not what hardware is attached to the board.
