Would just like to thank Andy for his work mapping the car monday, he got to work straight after getting home after a full day at work, and I appreciate his time seeing as though his wife also needed probably more attention than she got (broken wrist, + arm..I think?) :blushing:

We had some problem as the 750cc inj were actually more like 1000cc ones  but he spent time discussing it with Gray and it was all finally sorted, running nice and smooth and the AFR all sorted.

Got on to mapping and was peaking nicely at around 1.9/2 bar or so and holding well (1.7/1.8) to the red.

If only Id not had what looks like a spun bearing then it would have capped off a good day

He even got me a tow home lol as Im too tight to have AA relay cover

Car is now being stripped to see what the problem is, but the bottom line is the car was fine and the problem is 100% build related. It only happened as I was taking Andy back home out of 2nd/3rd gear......these things will happen.

But would just like to say a big thanks to Andy for being very methodical and not satisfied until it was running nicely, I appreciate it bud

Not a problem Jim,
Was really good to meet you etc. but I was gutted that the evening ended the way it did :(

As for those bloody injectors..... they took an age to get setup correctly but we got there in the end

It was pulling lovely as well. 2 bar boost by 3,300rpm in 6th and didn't want to stop.

And what a farce the AA was.... I phoned up and got some old dear to talk to. I said that the engine is kaputt because it's done the big end bearings and her response..... 'Is that like a wheel bearing'!!!!! WTF. I then proceeded to say that it will need a flatbed for recovery but she said that with the information I had provided that 'computer says no' and that she will arrange for a 'man in a van' to come out and diagnose the problem...

So when the 'man in the van' phones to say he is on his way I tell him not to bother because it's done the big ends and he then arranges for a flatbed...

All in all it turned out to be a really long night and a bit of a shit finish.

At least it gives you a chance to now get that stroker sorted though Jim ;)

Ouch, sorry to hear that Jim :(

What injectors were you using ?

Was the engine forged ?

precision ones mate, and yes, it was drop in forged.

Looks like an oil pressure failure, gutted to say the least, Andy spoke with engine builder and it seems everything was in order, he's offered me a good deal if I buy new parts, engine needs fully stripping and checking for contamination etc etc.

Feel like driving it off a cliff tbh at the minute.

Maybe not the place seen as though its a mapping forum lol....but is that what you'd go for Andy? Stroker?

Bloody gutted, was over the moon with spool and the pull through the gears too, nice little tubby's those 9's :blushing:

I've been having problems with my PTE 780's, there a fuckin bitch to dial in right :(

I hope the rebuild costs aren't too bad mate, maybe get way with a new oil pump, lots of cleaning, a polish of the crank and a set of bearings.

If it's any worse than that (piston / bore damage) then may aswell go stroker as the extra costs would be minimal.

Cheers lads,

He's basically said half the price to strip/fit of what he would normally charge, which is encouraging, the bloke is a decent fella and I think he genuinly took it to heart with what happened.

Im trying to be more positive tbh now, Ive had a good deal on a crank and rods from RossW so unless a good priced stroker kit comes along, it'll just be a fully forged 2ltr job I think, with usual extras....oil pump, headgasket...headstuds (will I need new ones again????)

Russ; I think Andy, and Gray over the phone were ready for pulling their hair out dialling in my injectors, they turned out to be 1000cc instead of the 750cc ones I bought them as...lol

Head studs won't need replacing so thats saved you about £60

Hmm, I wonder if mine are not 780's then.

Gray has given me some more settings to try, so i'll give those a bash sometime soon.

Glad he's sorted you out a good deal Jim,
Hopefully when it's stripped down a bit more he might find what the cause of the problem was.

And make sure you fit that oil pressure gauge when it goes back together ;)

Will do Andy, parts are gonna cost me around a grand which I can live with, especially as this time it'll be built from the ground up and everythign new and replaced.

He's willing to do all the labour, stripping, fitting for £500 :eek:maybe 4-6 days work most likely.

Will the ECU be good to go mate or will it maybe need tweaking or some logging?

It would need to be logged at the very least, as technically it will be a different engine, even if the spec is the same.

Cheers Russ, Andy and Gray are talking me round to the way of a stroker..lol
