View Full Version : Can an uber Geek put my maps etc on a new ROM?

Gents, it has taken a couple of years to do; and I'm almost there!:w00t:

I pretty much finished the GTA pinouts & have been busy making an adapter harness (Thanks for the socket Grant!). I'm very nearly at the stage where I can 'hot-swap' the GTA ECU with a E8 FQ300 one (back and forth whenever I want - no mods to original harness).

What I'd like is for someone :> to put all the bits I need from my GTA ROM (maps/tables/etc), onto a Tephra 96260009 V5 (unless you know better) ROM for me, including the immobiliser code removal. So that I can flash it straight to the new ECU.

Can/will anyone help :blushing:

p.s. before anyone tries to educate me on the GTA ECU... The car has a manual gear box now.:tt2:

No worries if you ping me over the original.

I was in the middle of doing this for you bud, however I stopped when I noticed your fueling scaling is stock and only goes to 260% load where as your timing load goes to 360% load, they should both be scalled the same.

Also, your hi & lo octane fueling & timing maps are identical which is bad, because if knock sets in then the ECU will not pull timing as the Octane Flag drops. I would personally be going back to the mapper and getting them to fix it.

Looking at the INIT code it was an ECUtek job. I would not want to rescale the fueling tables without a wideband on the car as it could totally mess things up.

I have attached a copy of the tephra ROM with everything from your original ROM copied over (except the lo octane maps), and I have left the scaling on the fuel maps alone at 260% load, but you need to sort that, because with anything over 260% load it will just use the last column of the map and nothing else for fueling.

Thanks, Herman, could that be a problem with the XML? It has been mapped by a reputable tuner (With ECUtec - couldn't find xml def for boost limit [or something] at the time & already had the licence).

In-correct scalling will not be a problem with the XML and I have just checked my XML which confirms that the hi & lo octane maps are 2 totally different addresses, so its not showing me the same maps with a different name. For sure your tuner has made the hi & lo octane maps identical.

A "reputable tuner" doesn't mean anything, just look in the HoS, plenty from big names in there.

The XML def problem regarding the boost limit does explain why it was set to about 190% load, and to get around it they set the delay timer to 2000 ms.

Okay, I appreciate that, I can at least use it to see if my ECU harness works and visit the tuner to map the FQ ECU.

Sorry! Which XML should I use for this? I found 96260009 SD - will that work?

*edit - found it.

not to sound bad but are you mad to go back to the mapper if he has
got the low and high maps the same so no knock control
and fuel at 260 and the timing at 360 this is a HOS at its best

id be looking for my money back from what i can see umless im missing some thing ???

whats the max load the car sees

GTA has 2 boost limits to sort out.

GTA has 2 boost limits to sort out.

But they can be set the same on mine, due to it being manual?

Is this an error with the XML, or are these parameters changeable within ECUflash? Therefore; Will I have to have the new ECU completely remapped, or will I be able to paste the old map & have it tweaked?

Rescalling can be done in EcuFlash, it is not an XML problem, however if you just rescale and do not check out the car then god knows how the fueling will be.

You would need to rescale the fuel maps appropriately, then check how it's running and adjust as needed. How much would need adjusting is hard to say.

That's fine, thanks for the info :)
