mapping live or not..

this maybe a stupid question but when you get the ecuflash done etc.. do they do it as a live map whilst driving car or do they just write a map on it..

im wondering as i have not yet fit my ecu.. and dont want to fit it if i can just take some were to write a map..

Only generic maps are flashed without seeing a car, such as the Ralliart one. Custom maps are carried out on a dyno or on the road driving the car.
