Hi
My brother has offered me a VAG-COM cable to connect to my ECU, as he no longer has any use for it. Is this cable ok to communicate with the EVO 8 ECU ? If so does it have limitations ?
At the moment i would just like to do a bit of logging, reset idle speed, reset/read fault codes etc, just to dip my toe in the water and hopefully learn a little about what some of you guys can do.
Cheers,
Paul L

Yes it can communicate with the ECU. I think Evoscan has an option for it.
I use one to log using a Pocket PC.

hmmm mixed bag of answers.
Perhaps have to just take the plunge, feed my brother some beer for the cable, try it and see what happens.

Dont ask me why but I've had mixed results with VAG cables. I think it's down to where you got it from as much as anything else as I had better results with the ones not from Poland/Hong Kong/Outer Mongolia/etc...
Give it a go
