Reading rom with ECUflash

Hi Guys, Well done getting this up and running.

Need some help. I'm a novice to all this so please be gentle :o

I've got Evoscan and Ecuflash downloaded. Using Limitless 1.3u cable.

Tonight is the 1st time used Ecuflash. Tried to read my ECU but it ain't playing ball :confused:

Is your car Ecutek'ed?

If so then you need to have the Ecutek unlocker running in the background before you open ecuflash

Yeah sure is. Done by Sam in 2007. Is this the norm for Ecutek? Is it straight forward after downloading the unlocker? Sorry mate :o

Yeah it is mate. I know, i'm just getting into this stuff now so will need someone that knows what there doing to have a look at them ;)

Download WinRAR. A rar file is just like a zipped file winrar will unzip it. :cool:

You also need .net framework too if you don't have it.

I can post my old timing table from the same source for comparison. ;)

Most windows installs have .net already now.

I've seen 2 from two different cars, both VIII's, and they were exactly the same, carbon copies. Hence why I started to do it myself. More bespoke. :D

Replied mate ;)

Save the xml I have just sent into the evo folder inside the rommetadata folder in the openecu directory.

Overwrite the old file, don't just move the old 1

Alright mate, I've got as far as the Evo folder in openecu directory but when I open that there is about 30 XML files? Don't know what to do now?

Also, is it just a copy/paste from the XML you sent?

Ok I'm back. Got p'd off with this before so just left it alone for a bit :blushing:

Anyway the problem i got now is that everytime I try to open a rom it says "unknown rom image"

Also when I try to read from my ecu, the window that comes up to select your vehicle from is blank?? After this I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling but its still the same. What the hell do i do now??

Maybe this game just ain't for me :rolleyes:

You need the correct XML for you car, if you post the rom up I will give you an XML for it. The vehicle list blank could be a few things, uninstall Ecuflash and reinstall it.
