The IV ecu cannot be flashed.

you can. Best try and get one from a VII thou. Hard to find. There was one from an 8 going for £60 on the MLR

Hi Andy, a newbie here. So if I understand you correctly, I can plug in a e5 ecu to a e4 harness, run a wire from ecu pin 79 to the openport reflash connector and I'm good to go? Thanks for your time.

sorry for bringing it up again but i need to know if i need to intercept wire between the stock harrness and the ecu for just a signal or just cut the wire coming from ecu and repin it to the reflash connector??

You need to add pin and wire to ECU connector. Slot 79 is empty in Evo 4. For the other end you can use 2.5 mm stereo headphone plug which directly plugs into the Tactrix Openport 2.0 cable.
