Can somebody please expain exactly what 2 byte and 1 byte load is. Im new to this and want to learn as much as possible. im finding it hard to understand some of the terminology. Maybe 1 of the geeks could make a sticky of the terminology and what it meens.

Its probably a bit more complex than this but the way i understand it is..

1 byte load is the load signal a standard rom will put out to your preferred MUT protocol data logger. As in what you will see plotted on your data log as the load. Which you will use vs rpm to work out which part of the map you log event relates to.
1 byte is the standard output that isnt quite directly related to the load values in the fuel and timing tables.
2 byte load is more accurate calculation that will directly relate to the load values in the fuel and timing maps.

i.e. the load values are made of of a few calculations - AxB - C x5...
1 byte load is just say Axb
2 byte load is more like the way the ecu works it out (AxB - Cx5) (Although i think not 100% the same as its hard to prove exactly how the ECU works it out)

But to use 2 byte load it has to enabled in the current rom you are running on the car.
-This i dont know how to do but if you ask nice the proper geeks are usually quite generous in sending over the edited ROM.

Im sure a true geek will be able to divulge exactly how the calculations are made for a better understanding but i hope this is a start. :)

a blast from the past but is there a "how to set the 2 byte" in the rom?

Yes do you have a rom ID number? The Howto: is on EvoM.

And

I've now done the following

so now off to try it :)
